A few years after the events of Star Ocean: First Departure, Admiral Ronyx, hero of the federation, is on a mission on the planet Milokeenia to discover the source of a strange energy. He is accompanied by Claude, his son. The latter, a little too curious, approaches a strange device and will find himself teleported to an unknown planet.
Claude barely has time to wonder where he is when he must rescue a young woman in distress. Rena looks at her savior and immediately makes the connection with the local legend. For her Claude is the “Hero of Light”, the one who will save the planet Expel from all recent cataclysms.
